So the other day I got a letter from the unemployment office that stated how much I would be getting each week. The figure they came up with was based on the work that I had done for a retail outlet. Essentially I will be getting what I made in one for the whole week. Bah! This puts me in quite the financial predicament; as the only way I was able to continue to exist on the retail job was to live off of student loans. This really, truly (redundant I know) seems worse than scurvy.
On the plus side there are quite a few jobs out there in my chosen field. (From here on out I will be pretending that I actually like my profession.) Also my house is much more organized; I joined this group/movement that helps to schedule tasks around the house and they send handy little reminders to your in box. Check them out at http://flylady.net .
I have also been listening to this audio book, Make Money, Not Excuses by Jean Chatzky. It has opened my eyes to where I should be going; also to some of my strengths. Not sure if it was the right idea to listen to it right now but when else would I have had the time.
It is a little difficult to adjust to not going to work. I keep thinking that I need to get up and go to work. I have been waking up at 3:52am for the last 5 mornings thinking I need to get ready for work. It felt a little like a vacation until the shutdown. I find that if I have not packed my day full of "things" I just end up sitting and watching TV. I think to myself, get up make something! Read! Clean! Do Something!!! But still I just sit, and sit. Strange. If you all have ideas of "things" to pack into my schedule let me know.
Oh yeah and if you want to know I listen to KEXP while I write. A great mix. http://www.kexp.org |
